3-AMINO-3-(4-METHYLPHENYL)PROPIONIC ACID - Introduction
3-Amino-3-(4-methylphenyl)propionic acid, also known as AMPB acid, is an organic compound. Its chemical formula is C11H13NO2 and its relative molecular mass is 191.23.
The following are some of the properties of the compound:
-Appearance: AMPB acid is colorless or pale yellow crystals.
-Solubility: It can be dissolved in water or in some organic solvents, such as ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide.
-Melting point: about 150-153 ℃.
Use of AMPB Acid:
-Biochemical research: It is often used as a synthetic fluorescent probe or dye for biological labeling, fluorescence microscopy and other biochemical research.
-Chemical synthesis: It can be used as an important intermediate in drug synthesis, organic synthesis, polymer synthesis and other fields.
There are two main methods for preparing AMPB acid:
1. through the carboxylation reaction of 4-methyl benzene ethanol: 4-methyl benzene ethanol and oxidant reaction, such as CrO3, Na2Cr2O7, etc., under appropriate conditions for catalytic oxidation, generating AMPB acid.
2. it is prepared by over-acidification of 3-amino -3-(4-methylphenyl) propionaldehyde: 3-amino -3-(4-methylphenyl) propionaldehyde is reacted with over-acidified argon, and over-acidic formic acid or over-acidic acetic acid is commonly used to generate peracid, which is reacted with propionaldehyde to obtain AMPB acid.
Safety Information on AMPB Acid:
- AMPB acid is not significantly toxic under normal conditions of use, but appropriate personal protective equipment, such as protective glasses and gloves, should be worn during operation.
-Avoid inhaling AMPB acid dust and avoid skin contact and ingestion.
-During storage, AMPB acid should be stored in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place, away from fire and oxidizing agents.
-If accidental contact or ingestion occurs, seek medical attention immediately.
